DUBUQUE, Iowa — After one of his best performances this season in a 2-1 shootout win over the Omaha Lancers, Aaron Randazzo was named USHL goalie of the week. Randazzo turned away 25 shots in regulation and overtime, along with two in the shootout to help the Fighting Saints complete a season sweep of the Lancers.
Randazzo, in his first start since December 14th, was sharp in net from the get go for Dubuque. He stopped eight shots in the first, 10 in a busy second and eight in the third and overtime combined. Randazzo made a couple highlight reel saves, including a sprawling right pad save midway through the second.
In the shootout, Randazzo made two stops, staying calm on both as the Lancers tried to go five hole. Randazzo, a St. Cloud State commit, has been a compatible back up to Matthew Thiessen this season. Randazzo has five wins and just two loses in net for Dubuque.
Randazzo becomes the third Fighting Saint to win weekly honors this season after Ty and Dylan Jackson received co-forward of the week honors back in October.
