DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Dubuque Fighting Saints have their official 23-man roster ahead of the 2018-2019 regular season. After four preseason games, the Saints have whittled down a roster of 30 players to the 23 necessary for the regular season.
“The process of getting from 30 to 23 has been great,” General Manager Kalle Larsson said. “We have taken input from the entire staff and had creative discussions about each decision.”
The Fighting Saints also reassigned several players to their affiliate list as the season opener draws near. The Fighting Saints have three NHL draft picks on their roster and a total of 10 college commits. Dubuque will see a lot of new faces in their red and white this season. The Fighting Saints return five players from last year’s team in Jacob Semik, Michael Feenstra, Aidan Fulp, Matias Maccelli and Logan Pietila. In addition, Willie Knierim returns to Dubuque after two seasons at the collegiate level.
“We only have four players that ended last season on our 23-man roster, so this is a brand new team,” Larsson said. “We believe that we have a nice balance between old, young, skill, and grit.”
In goal, the Saints are led by Matthew Thiessen and Aaron Randazzo. The two have been stellar all preseason and give the Saints a two-headed monster in net. The Saints full 23-man roster is listed below:
“We are excited about this entire group and look forward to the drop of the puck in the regular season,” Larsson said.
The puck drops for the Saints at 10 a.m. central this upcoming Saturday at the USHL Fall Classic. The Saints home opener will follow the weekend after on Saturday, October 6th. Tickets are on sale at DubuqueFightingSaints.com and you can also call the box office at 563.583.6880.
