DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Dubuque Fighting Saints are proud to announce that Brian Stoya has been named as the Equipment Manager for the team, starting with the 2018–2019 season. Stoya joins the Saints from Union College’s Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey team as an Equipment Management Intern, where he served in that capacity during the 2017–18 season.
“I am excited to be joining the Fighting Saints organization and I am grateful for the opportunity to take the next step in my career as an equipment manager,” Stoya said. “The USHL and the Dubuque Fighting Saints are respected in the hockey world, and I’m looking forward to being part of the organization. I am thankful to Coach David for offering me this opportunity and I can’t wait for the season to start.”
Stoya grew up with the game of hockey, and has been involved in equipment management for the past three years. He grew up as a defenseman from the age of four in Lake George, N.Y., and played Junior B hockey with the Adirondack Jr. Wings and completed his playing career at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica.
“Brian comes to us recommended from former Fighting Saints equipment manager Trevor Heinzerling, now an assistant equipment manager with the Colorado Eagles of the AHL,” said head coach Oliver David. “What has stood out with Brian is his organizational skills, his passion to be a pro in the game, and his ideas about what it takes to be a good equipment manager. We’re excited to add Brian to the team.”
He served as an equipment manager during the 2nd and 3rd Annual Miracle On Ice Fantasy Camp in Lake Placid, and as a Student Equipment manager with SUNY Cortland Men’s Hockey during the 2016–17 season.
