Home ice in the first round on the line tonight

  1. After clinching their playoff spot the previous week, the Fighting Saints will look to clinch home ice advantage for the first round. The Saints will need to win both games in any fashion to secure home ice in round one.
  2. Breaking through on the power play will be paramount for the Saints to win the two games. Green Bay has the best penalty kill in the league at 87%. The good news for the Saints is that it's a more pedestrian PK away from the Resch Center at 82.5%, which is the 6th-best in the league
  3. Scoring the first goal will be important so that the Saints don’t have to climb back into the game. The Saints have surrendered the first goal in 11 straight games dating back to March 7th, and have gone 3-5-3 in that span.
  4. The player to watch for the Saints is reigning USHL Forward of the Week Tyce Thompson. Thompson has at least one point in each of his past 7 games with 13 points in that span. Last weekend he scored 2 goals and 4 assists to help the Saints clinch their playoff spot.
  5. The player to watch for the Gamblers is forward Josh Dunne. Dunne has notched 6 assists in his past 4 games. His last time out against the Saints he also scored a hat trick and an assist, leading to the 6-3 win for Green Bay.
