Former Saints continue impressive seasons

-A new Solow streak has started in at the NCAA DI level with Zach Solow notching points in three straight games for the Northeastern University Huskies. Solow who led the USHL in points last year, had a 20 game streak while playing for the Fighting Saints last year. Solow’s seven points on the year puts him in a tie for 4th at the NCAA D1 Men’s hockey level.

-Fighting Saints legend Frankie DiChiara scored his first pro goal at a clutch time—the game-winner for the brand-new Worcester Railers, in their first home game in team history, against the Manchester Monarchs.

-Former Fighting Saint Joakim Ryan made his NHL debut last Thursday against the Buffalo Sabres and former teammate Zemgus Girgensons. Ryan put up over 21 minutes of ice time as the Sharks won 3-2 over the Sabres. Ryan played for the Saints during the 2010-11 season, where the Saints won the Clark Cup. Ryan was then a 7th round pick of the Sharks in the 2012 NHL Draft.

-Zemgus Girgensons put up two assists on Thursday in a 3-2 loss to the Sharks for his first points of the season. Two days later he scored his first goal of the season for a very solid three-point week for the former Fighting Saints standout.

-Johnny Gaudreau continued his hot start to the season with three more points this week to add to the five points he scored in his first two games. Gaudreau’s eight points on the season put him in a 16-way tie for fifth in the league for points.

-Patrick Kudla scored his first point, an assist, for the University of Guelph Gryphons in their 5-4 loss in OT to the Ryerson Rams. Kudla played for the Saints last season notching 38 points in 58 games.

-Shane Eiserman scored points in both of his games for New Hampshire over the weekend to assist them in their sweep over the weekend of the Colgate Raiders. New Hampshire is so far undefeated on the season.
