Fighting Saints Make 10 Selections in Phase I

Saints look to bolster future rosters with new picks

DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Dubuque Fighting Saints hockey staff made ten selections in Phase I of the USHL Draft, including six forwards and four defensemen. The entire draft class consisted of 2001 birth dates.

“I think we got some good players that we targeted,” said Kalle Larsson, the Saints' director of player personnel. “We’re really excited about our picks, and we look forward to seeing them in Main Camp in June.”

“There’s a lot of work that goes into these few hours at the draft, and the scouting staff has done a great job of getting us the information that we needed to make informed selections in Phase I.”

The 2017 draft class is headlined by Minnesota product Jake Hale, a forward who notched 20 goals in 24 games at Minneapolis High School. He is committed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

ROUND 2: D Braden Doyle (Lynnfield, Mass.) – 29th overall
ROUND 3: F Jacob Badal (Flushing, Mich.) – 45th overall
ROUND 4: F Ty Jackson (Oakville, Ontario) – 61st overall
ROUND 6: D Davis Pennington (Saline, Mich.) – 93rd overall
ROUND 7: F Braden Lindstrom (Wyandotte, Mich.) – 101st overall
ROUND 7: F Killian Kiecker-Olson (Andover, Minn.) – 109th overall
ROUND 8: D Michael Feenstra (Grand Haven, Mich.) – 125th overall
ROUND 9: D Ian Pierce (New York, N.Y.) – 141st overall
ROUND 10: F Mason McCormick (Verona, Wis.) – 157th overall
