DUBUQUE, Iowa--The Fighting Saints have added another Buckeye into the fold. Fighting Saints defenseman Sasha Larocque announced his commitment to play college hockey at Ohio State via Twitter Wednesday night, becoming the 14th member of the Fighting Saints roster with a college commitment.
Larocque, a veteran defenseman from Calgary, posted on Twitter, "Unbelievably proud and excited to commit to Ohio State University! Thanks to everyone along the way who helped this dream come true!"
The overage blueliner is an alternate captain for the Fighting Saints and registered his first USHL goal in a 5-4 win against Youngstown last Saturday. In six games this season, he has registered a goal and an assist along with 10 penalty minutes. Larocque spent last season with the Grand Prairie Storm of the AJHL where he was the team's captain and scored 22 points in 42 games.
Larocque joins fellow teammate Michael Davies as Ohio State recruits. Former Fighting Saints Tyler Lundy and Christian Frey are both currently stars for OSU.
