DUBUQUE, IA—The Dubuque Fighting Saints announced a roster move Monday, acquiring goaltender Gavin Nieto from the Janesville Jets of the North American Hockey League for goaltender Kevin Reich. Nieto has joined the Fighting Saints and will be eligible to play this weekend. Reich will report to Janesville pending he clears USHL waivers.
Nieto, a native of Yorba Linda, California, appeared in three games for the Jets, posting a 2-0-1 record with a 2.13 goals against average and a .914 save percentage. Nieto was a member of the Fighting Saints training camp roster, and appeared in four exhibition games for Dubuque, including victories over Waterloo on September 5 and Cedar Rapids on September 11. Nieto, a 6-foot-1, 178 pound goaltender, previously appeared in one USHL regular season game with the Sioux City Musketeers during the 2012-2013 regular season, stopping 32 shots in a win over the Fargo Force.
Reich appeared in 21 games last season for the Fighting Saints after joining the club from Germany in January. He posted a 10-7-3 record with a 3.02 goals against average and a .897 save percentage. He also appeared in seven postseason games, going 3-3. This season, Reich struggled in his three starts and posted a record of 0-3-0.
