DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Dubuque Fighting Saints completed Phase I of the 2021 USHL Draft and added ten players in the 2005 birth year. The haul includes six forwards, three defensemen, and one goaltender. Leading the list is fifth overall selection Michael Burchill, a forward from the heralded Compuware program in Michigan.
The Saints also selected defenseman Lucas St. Louis, the middle son of NHL all-star Martin St. Louis, in the second round.
Here are the ten selections by the Fighting Saints, in order:
Round 1, 5th overall: Michael Burchill – forward, Compuware 15U AAA
Round 2, 20th overall: Lucas St. Louis – defenseman, Mid Fairfield Rangers
Round 3, 35th overall: James Reeder - forward, Chicago Mission
Round 4, 50th overall: Drew Berres – defenseman, Milwaukee Jr. Admirals
Round 5, 65th overall: Carter McCormick – forward, Little Caesars 15U AAA
Round 6, 80th overall: Bradley Nadeau – forward, Fredericton Caps U18 AAA
Round 7, 95th overall: Cam Russo – forward, Governor’s Academy
Round 8, 110th overall: Luke Malboeuf – defenseman, Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 16U
Round 9, 125th overall: Michael Hrabal – goaltender, HC Sparta Praha U17
Round 10, 140th overall: Ben Lalkin – forward, Toronto Jr. Canadiens
“We let our list do the work. We’ve done the work over the past few months, and we felt that we got some really good players that can help our future,” said GM Kalle Larsson. “We really want to thank our scouts for their hard work throughout this season.”
