Dubuque Gets points from 10 players

Matt Savoie and Connor Kurth each tallied three points and the Saints scored their most goals in a game this season in a 7-4 win over Waterloo. Reilly Herbst made 17 saves in his Dubuque debut and got the win for the Saints. It was Dubuque’s second win over the Hawks this season.

-Dubuque remedied a few of their faults from last weekend early as they grabbed a lead and did so on the power play. Connor Kurth found the net for his ninth of the year. On the goal Matt Savoie recorded his first USHL point.

-The Saints were far from done, as Braden Doyle notched his first of the season, snipping one short side on Charlie Glockner to extend the lead to 2-0.

-Shortly after it was Savoie’s turn to take center stage. He sped past the Waterloo defense and snuck his shot along the ice to give Dubuque a 3-0 and Savoie his first USHL goal. Dubuque capped off the first period with another USHL first, as Ryan Alexander scored his first in the USHL.

-Savoie continued his great debut with another goal to start the second period. Kurth assisted on the goal to give each three points in the game.

-Waterloo mounted a solid comeback, scoring three goals shortly after the opening tally for Dubuque. The Hawks cut the deficit to two as Gucciardi, LaStarza and Copre all netted goals for the Hawks.

-Dubuque was able to reestablish a three-goal lead as Robert Cronin ripped a wrister just 30 seconds after the Copre goal. Dubuque headed to the locker room with a three-goal lead going into the third.

-Waterloo continued to keep it close as they scored again early on a third period power play. Two goals would be as close as the Hawks got however, as the Saints buckled down after that.

-Dubuque finished the game with some style points, as Andrei Buyalsky and Daniyal Dzhaniyev teamed up for a gorgeous goal. Buyalski powered down the left wing and found Dzhaniyev for the tally to ice the game.

-In his first USHL game in over a year, Reilly Herbst came up with a few key stops to get his first victory for Dubuque in his Saints debut. Herbst stopped 17 on the night in the win.

-The seven goals for Dubuque were the most scored in any USHL game from the Saints this season. Dubuque recorded points from 10 different players in the victory.

-Up next for Dubuque, another meeting with the Des Moines Buccaneers as they look for two in a row against the Bucs. Puck will drop at 7pm on Saturday.
