Over the next two weeks, we will be putting a spotlight on each and every member of the 2020 Fighting Saints Training Camp roster. The players are set to report to Dubuque by the beginning of October with the USHL season slated to start November 6th. Dubuque returns 10 players from last year’s team, adds two from the NCAA ranks and brings in seven from their affiliate list last year. According to head coach Oliver David, this will be a very young, but talented team. This week we will be profiling PJ Fletcher.
PJ Fletcher 2019-20 Stats: 30 GP, 0G, 6A, 6P (Quinnipiac)
PJ Fletcher is one of two Fighting Saints who will be making their return from the college ranks, as he skated with the Quinnipiac Bobcats last season, his first in the NCAA.
Fletcher found his way onto the scoresheet in a fifth of the games he played in last year with the Bobcats, but certainly is looking to factor in much more this season with the Fighting Saints.
Fletcher is a power forward in every sense of the word. He does his best work below the circles and plays with a physical edge to his game. Fletcher is a big body that the Saints can use in front of the net, especially during the power play.
After watching Fletcher skate for the first time in Main Camp, Saints fans can expect him to bring a lot of what Willie Knierim did to the team in terms of style of play and offensive production.
What Fletcher also brings to Dubuque is experience. Not just at the NCAA level, but also the junior level. He played in the BCHL during the 2018-19 season and registered 26 points in just over 50 games. Fletchers experience will be a nice compliment to a fairly young Dubuque Fighting Saints team in 2020-21.
