Halliday and Dylan Jackson Each Tally Three Points In Win

The Dubuque Fighting Saints put together their strongest offensive performance of the preseason, scoring six times to down the Green Bay Gamblers 6-3 in their third preseason game of 2019-20. Stephen Halliday and Dylan Jackson had three points each as Dubuque scored six times in the first two periods. Dubuque also scored on their first two shots of the game.

-After generating chances but having little to show for it in game one of the preseason, the Jackson, Jackson, Halliday line exploded for a combined eight points tonight. Dylan Jackson and Stephen Halliday each had a goal and two assists and Ty Jackson added a goal and an assist. The line generated chances all night long and could have had a few more goals.

-Reggie Millette and Thomas Middleton both scored their first goals of the preseason as Dubuque grabbed some quality scoring from their bottom six forwards. The goals from Millette and Middleton were both greasy goals below the circles.

-Robert Cronin notched the other tally for Dubuque, giving him three goals this preseason which ties him for the team lead with Mark Cheremeta.

-Once again, the effort in net for Dubuque was noticeable. Aidan McCarthy played two periods, allowing three goals on 18 shots. Hobie Hedquist entered for the final 20 minutes and was a perfect nine for nine in saves.

-Green Bay wasn’t void of offense in the game, scoring all three goals in the middle period. Green Bay had the better of the play and chances in that period, getting goals from Jesse Tucker, Kyler Grundy and Benito Posa.

-Both teams took their fair share of penalties, though Green Bay found themselves shorthanded six times during the game. Dubuque scored once on the power play and have now scored at least one power play goal in each preseason game thus far.

-Dubuque and Green Bay played six one goal games last season. Tonight, looked more like the seventh game played between the two teams, which Dubuque won 7-1. The Saints pounced on Green Bay early and never took their foot off the gas.

-The two teams will clash for the final game of their respective preseasons tomorrow at Mystique Community Ice Center. Dubuque will look to go perfect during the preseason while Green Bay will look for a little revenge. Tickets are still on sale at 563.583.6880.
