-Former Fighting Saints head coach Jim Montgomery was the keynote speaker at the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Kearney this past week. Montgomery conveyed to the players the importance of taking each day one step at a time and improving each day in the USHL.
-Former Fighting Saints standout Dylan Gambrell was named the NCHC Offensive Player of the Week for week 12 after putting up 3 goals, 2 assists and 15 shots on goal against Miami. Gambrell also played his 100th career game for the Denver Pioneers. He sits third in the NCHC with 27 points this season.
-Also winning an award for Denver was former Saints defenseman Blake Hillman, who won NCHC Defenseman of the Week for week 12. Hillman notched 3 assists against Miami to double his assists for the season, and also tie his point total from last season (8).
-Minnesota Golden Gophers alternate captain Mike Szmatula scored two goals over the weekend against top-ranked St. Cloud State to lead the Gophers to a weekend split.
-Also showing up in the series was St. Cloud State forward Robby Jackson, who picked up two assists to raise his season total to 20. Jackson is one point behind his season total from last year.
-Edmonton Oilers defenseman Matt Benning recently played in his 100th career NHL game. Benning has picked up 28 points, including three points in last year's Stanley Cup playoff run, in his NHL career.
