DUBUQUE, Iowa — It’s the most wonderful time of the year once again! Bears will be flying and kids will be celebrating when the Fighting Saints host the eighth-annual Teddy Bear Toss, along with media partner Dubuque’s Super Hits 106.1 FM this Saturday at 7:05 p.m. against the Sioux City Musketeers. Everyone is invited and encouraged to bring a new teddy bear or stuffed animal!
When the Fighting Saints score their first goal, let the bears fly! All stuffed animals will be donated to Toys for Tots in Dubuque, the recipient of the Best Chapter in the Midwest Award. An average of over 1,500 stuffed animals have been donated to Toys for Tots every year, and this year, we are looking to set a new record!
“There’s no better time of year than the holiday season!” said Katie Kenne, the Fighting Saints’ Vice President of Business Operations. “We are delighted to help out Toys for Tots here in Dubuque for the eighth year in a row, and we’re going to help spread cheer to kids throughout our area who need it the most.”
Also, Jolly Old Saint Nick will be in town for his yearly pre-Christmas visit to Dubuque! Fans are encouraged to get their picture with Santa on the concourse near Section 110.
Toys for Tots is run by the United States Marine Corps Reserves and they distribute toys for underprivileged kids. As of 2016, Toys for Tots has distributed over 512 million toys for kids all over the country.
