Ryan sets record, Niagara receives USCHO votes

-Former Fighting Saints defenseman Joakim Ryan picked up his first point, an assist, for the San Jose Sharks in a 4-1 win over the Nashville Predators. On the same night, Ryan also set a Sharks team record with nine blocked shots in the game. Ryan played for the Saints during the inaugural 2010–2011 season in which Dubuque captured the Clark Cup.

-Niagara University head coach Jason Lammers kept the Purple Eagles believing over the weekend with a three-point weekend against Bentley University. The Eagles tied on Friday, and picked up the victory on Saturday. Lammers' team is now 5-2-1 to begin the year, second in Atlantic Hockey behind Army. The five wins matched all of last season's total, and the Purple Eagles received votes in the USCHO National Poll.

-Former Fighting Saints alternate captain Colin Theisen scored an empty-net goal and an assist in Notre Dame's win over Ohio State over the weekend. Theisen has nine points on the season, which has helped the Fighting Irish to the #6 spot on the NCAA rankings.

-Johnny Gaudreau scored three more points for the Calgary Flames throughout the past week to continue his stellar season. His 19 points are tied for fifth in the league (4 goals, 15 assists).
