COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Dubuque Fighting Saints defenseman Jacob Semik (Canton, Mich./Michigan) has been selected by USA Hockey to participate in the seventh-annual CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game in Buffalo. The game, coached by NHL legends Chris Chelios and Brian Leetch, will be played on Thursday, September 21 at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
Semik joins several other acclaimed Dubuque Fighting Saints alumni, such as Willie Knierim, Spenser Young, Hunter Miska and Michael Downing, who also took part in the showcase event over the past few seasons. The All-American Prospects Game features the top talent in the United States who are eligible for the 2018 NHL Draft in Dallas.
Semik has had a decorated career in a short time, especially since joining the Fighting Saints organization. The Michigan native has represented the United States most recently at the Ivan Hlinka Tournament earlier in August, and at the Five Nations Tournament, where Team USA captured gold last summer.
Last season, Semik played in 36 games for the Saints, and tallied 7 points and finished the season with a +10 rating. He scored his first USHL goal in his first game on September 24, 2016, an overtime game-winner against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, and followed it up with his second just one week later in Chicago against the Steel.
Semik was originally selected by the Saints in the first round of the 2016 Phase I Draft, 14th overall.
