CHICAGO — For the second consecutive season, Dubuque Fighting Saints head coach/GM Jason Lammers will serve on the bench of the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, which will be played in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on January 10, 2017. Today, the USHL named Lammers as an assistant coach of Team East, alongside Youngstown Phantoms head coach Brad Patterson. Chicago Steel head coach Dan Muse will serve as the head coach of Team East.
Lammers previously served as the head coach of Team East at the 2015 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Omaha. He led the team, along with Fighting Saints players Willie Knierim and Michael O’Leary, to a 6-2 win over Team West. In Lammers’ tenure as the head coach in Dubuque, the team is 55-27-4 (.639).
“It’s an honor to represent the Dubuque Fighting Saints at the Top Prospects Game, and in my opinion, this is an organizational award that represents the people and players that have been involved in our organization,” Lammers said. “It’s my honor to represent everyone with the Dubuque Fighting Saints as the assistant coach of Team East.”
It was announced by the USHL on December 13 that Saints forward Zach Solow was named to the Top Prospects Game roster. 58 players that have played in the game have gone on to be selected in the NHL Draft. 35 of the 40 players selected to the initial roster were named to NHL Central Scouting’s Preliminary List.
Sioux City Musketeers head coach Jay Varady will serve as the head coach of Team West, with Des Moines Buccaneers head coach Dave Allison and Omaha Lancers head coach Brian Kaufman serving alongside as assistants.
