COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Dubuque Fighting Saints forward Zach Solow has been added to the United States Junior Select Team to attend the World Junior A Challenge in Bonnyville, Alberta between December 11 and 17.
Solow, the team’s leading scorer (6-11—17), is in the midst of a tremendous run. The Naples, Fla. native has goals in back-to-back games, points in eight consecutive games, and 11 of the last 12 games. In that span, Solow has four multi-point efforts.
“I got really excited when I heard I was selected, and I was instantly ready to enjoy this moment,” Solow said. “All of the guys push me to be my very best every day. I play with and against great players, and it lets me display my skills every night.”
“Zach has evolved into a quality player in this league, and we know he is a great addition to Team USA for the World Junior A Challenge,” said head coach/GM Jason Lammers. “Representing your country is a big deal, and we know he will represent it well in the chase for gold.”
Solow joins associate head coach JB Bittner, who is representing Team USA as an assistant coach during the tournament, in which the United States has medaled in nine of the last ten years.
Last year, the United States took bronze, with the help of Fighting Saints Willie Knierim, Spenser Young and Keegan Ford.
