DUBUQUE, Iowa — Forward Makai Holdener (Geneva, Switzerland) has been added to the active roster effective immediately, according to head coach/GM Jason Lammers. Holdener, considered an import player, is set to join the team later this week.
“Makai is a really good player with a savvy stick and a knack for making plays,” Lammers said. “He’s a really high-character person that we’re really excited to have as part of our organization.”
Holdener, 19, has represented his native country of Switzerland on several occasions, as part of the country’s U17, U18, and U20 programs. Most recently, he has played at both the A and B-ranked professional league in Switzerland, with an assist for EHC Biel-Bienne in six games, and six points in nine games for EHC Visp of National League B.
Holdener’s experience also moved into Sweden’s SuperElit league, the top junior league in the country. With the Malmö Redhawks last season, he notched seven goals and 12 assists in 18 games.
As a corresponding move, forward R.J. Murphy has been placed on the Fighting Saints’ affiliate list.
