DUBUQUE, Iowa — One of the most special nights of the year is coming up this weekend. Military Appreciation Night, sponsored by Kwik Stop, Dairy Queen and Fazoli’s, along with media partner 101.1 FM The River, is this Friday, November 11, starting at 7:35 p.m. against the Green Bay Gamblers. Military members with a valid ID will receive a discount of $3.00 per ticket on up to six tickets.
The Dubuque Fighting Saints will once again wear special camouflage-themed jerseys, sponsored by the Dubuque County Department of Veteran’s Affairs, which will be auctioned off after the game to benefit the Veteran’s Freedom Center on Kerper Boulevard. The Veteran’s Freedom Center, a local non-profit, provides services such as a wood shop, a craft area, a game room, and a full-service kitchen, among many others, to help the numerous veterans of all kinds throughout the Tri-State area.
The Veteran’s Freedom Center also extends help to Tri-State area veterans with Operation: We Care, a fund which helps veterans with health services such as wheelchairs, walkers, and financial services for those that may not be able to afford post-service challenges.
The last two auctions have raised an outstanding $30,000 for the Veteran’s Freedom Center.
In addition to the festivities, the team will be hosting a special memorial ceremony starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial Plaza on Chaplin Schmitt Drive, right across from Our House.
